I’m Caroline Simpson
I live in Auckland, New Zealand.
Prior to founding Proofreaders Plus I worked in the corporate and academic worlds and for not-for-profit organisations. Over the years I have volunteered for local clubs, schools and kindergartens. That real-world experience is invaluable in my editing work today.
I have passed the exam to become an Accredited Editor with the Institute of Professional Editors (IPEd). The integrity and visibility of the editing profession in New Zealand is important to me, and I volunteer my time as president of the committee of EdANZ, the New Zealand branch of IPEd.
While I am not an expert in te reo Māori, I do have a great interest in the language – to the extent that I am a keen student. If your writing has some te reo words in the context of English text and you need someone who can keep an eye out for the missing tohutō and check the spelling, then I can help.
In the last year I have engaged in training on advanced Word skills, plain English business writing, web editing, brushing up on grammar and punctuation, and learning te reo Māori. As part of my accreditation, I am required to keep working on my professional development.
